Yes. The tutorial library and articles are free to read, with no account required.

Do I need to already know how to play?

You should know the basic rules — how each piece moves, check and checkmate, castling. From there, the tutorials are built for players roughly unrated up to 2000 ELO, so complete beginners through to solid club players will find material at the right level.

What order should I study the tutorials in?

Start with an opening you’re interested in (browse by ECO code on the Tutorials page), then move into the middlegame plans and endgame technique that opening typically leads to. There’s no single required order — follow what’s relevant to how you actually play.

How is each tutorial structured?

Every tutorial follows the same three-part structure: the underlying theory explained in plain language, model games showing the idea in practice, and practice positions so you can apply it yourself.

Can I suggest a topic?

Yes — use the Contact page to send through any opening, middlegame theme, or endgame type you’d like covered.
